Last week a good friend let me know that Pics4Learning.com was included in Hidden Webtools: 11 for 2011, a new eBook by Simple K12. I was thrilled to see that someone else sees Pics4Learning as valuable as we do.
I am proud that Tech4Learning developed the infrastructure for this site and has been hosting it for over ten years now. But the database structure isn't what makes this site valuable, it is the contribution of thousands of images by students, teachers, amateur, and professional photographers. Pics4Learning is valuable because our community has worked to make it so.
So I wanted to send out a special thanks to all the students, teachers, and photographers (maybe even you!) who have made Pics4Learning great by contributing their photographs and illustrations.
If you aren't yet familiar with Pics4Learning.com, I encourage you to visit and start downloading copyright-friendly, free images that support the educational projects you are doing in your classrooms.
To those of you out who love to take photos, I encourage you to contribute as well. Take your camera to your favorite restaurant and take pictures of your food. If you have a usb microscope, upload photos of single-cell organisms. If an image is useful to you or your students, it is likely that it would be a great resource for others as well.
