Tech4Learning has released an update to Wixie that allows organizations to use Google Accounts for authenticating users. Wixie is a cloud-based authoring tool students can use to paint pictures, write stories, and record their voice while exploring and mastering the curriculum. Google Accounts provides a way for third-party applications to authorize users, providing an opportunity for single sign on.

San Diego, California, March 14, 2012 — Tech4Learning has released an update to Wixie that allows student projects to be viewed on the iPad. Wixie projects now play back in Flash, HTML 5 or HTML depending on the capabilities of the web browser viewing the project.

Tech4Learning Awarded Five-Year Contract by Department of Defense Education Activities (DoDEA)

Tech4Learning has been awarded a five-year contract by the Department of Defense Education Activities to continue to provide enterprise-wide software solutions to students in the DoDEA system. Students will have access to all Tech4Learning products on any computer in the system, including market leaders Pixie, Share, and Frames. DoDEA students will also take advantage of cloud-based services Wixie, K12Share, and Recipes4Success to build essential 21st century communication skills.

The articles highlights projects done at Meiklejohn Elementary School in Arvada, Colorado where the 4th graders design lessons for their Kindergarten buddies.

ComputED Gazette included Wixie and Share in its 17th Annual Best Educational Software Awards. The Awards target innovative and content-rich programs and websites that provide parents and teachers with the technology to foster educational excellence. Wixie won an Early Elementary award for Multimedia Creation Website and Share won the same award for Upper Elementary.
