As the calendar year comes to a close, you can use Wixie to help reflect on events during the year and encourage student writing, data collection, and digital-age communication skills.
Use Wixie to help students reflect on events this year and identify what they did well, what they enjoyed, and how they grew. You may want to start with a group brainstorming session to help them focus on specific things they accomplished (like completing another grade) as well as enjoyed (field trip).
When students log in to Wixie, simply have them choose the Templates tab to open the School Year Round Up file, add a picture from their device's camera, and type text. You can even have them record voice to read the text, introduce themselves, or share additional information.
Have students print their individual pages to take home as a memory of what they did well, what they enjoyed, and how they grew this school year. You can also combine their work into one project and present to students during your last day of school festivities.
You can complete a similar project with Wixie's My Favorite Memory template.
Create achievement certificates
To foster empathy and a supportive learning culture, ask your students to create a certificate of achievement to recognize the work and effort of a classmate. Students can find sample certificates in their Templates>Teacher folder.
Pair students together to interview each other about things they accomplished this year. If your students used Wixie to set SMART goals at the beginning of the school year, you can also revisit those goals for ideas to celebrate.
Set goals for summer
While most students long for summer vacation, they are often bored after a couple of weeks without their friends and their routine. Like the goal setting you do during the school year, have students set goals for their summer break.
While we of course want them to consider setting academic-focused goals such as how many books to read, encourage them to set goals like:
- make a new friend
- learn a new sport or skill
- try new foods
- observe nature
Thank you cards
Help everyone's year end on a high-note by thanking someone at school. Students can thank a friend, their principal or PE teacher, or another staff member for making their school year amazing. Share this great list of positive words to encourage a range of compliments.
Happy creating and have a wonderful end to your school year!
