Teaching remotely has been a new endeavor for most teachers. To make the consistent work to prepare for the new world of remote learning a little easier, Wixie includes an import PDF function that allows you to create quick digital assignments from PDFs that are part of your adopted curriculum.

You can assign the Wixie files converted from PDF directly to the students in your classes or edit them in Wixie to add voice instructions and text fields to make them easier for students to complete remotely.

Convert a PDF worksheet or organizer to a Wixie file

To move your printed PDFs online to Wixie, log in to your Wixie teacher account.

Use the New button and choose Upload.


At the Upload dialog, select the Find button.

Use your device’s navigation options to find the .PDF file you want to add and select it. You can even use the Shift key to select multiple PDF files and convert them in bulk! 

Select the Upload button.

Wixie will convert each selected PDF file into a new Wixie project and save them to your My Projects folder.

Assign a converted file

To assign a file you have converted, select the three dots next to the file and select Assign from the menu that appears.


At the Assign dialog, choose the students and dates you want for the assignment.

Select the Save button.

Students will see this assignment at the top of their Wixie home page when they log in on the dates you have indicated.

Edit a converted file

The contents of a converted PDF are displayed on the background layer of the page. This means students can simply paint, or add text, images, and voice recording to complete the assignment.

To edit the converted PDFs to make it more appropriate for your remote digital learners, simply open it and edit with Wixie's tools. For example, you can:

• use the Text tool to add text boxes so students only have to click and type and not add text boxes also.
• use the Clipboard button on the tools palette to add your own instructions students can both read and listen to.
• use the Video button to capture and add a video introduction to the topic or task.

If you are an instructional leader at your school or district and have worked to get your adopted curriculum into Wixie, you can share the templates to your school or district folder so the rest of the educators at your site can utilize them without having to convert as well.
