San Diego, California October 13, 2011 — Clark County School District in Nevada has approved Pixie for purchase using Title III funds. Pixie’s inclusion on the Elementary ESL Qualified Materials List means ELL students in Clark County schools will be able to use Pixie to build language skills through projects that combine text, visual supports, original artwork, and voice narration. Title III is a federal program that provides grants to improve the education of limited English proficient students as part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).

Pixie enables students to practice their oral language skills in meaningful and authentic contexts, collaborate in real time with their peers, and create learning artifacts they can share with others", shares Carolyn Daly, Clark County School District’s Tech4Learning representative and former California bilingual educator.

Pixie is exciting educational software students use to build vocabulary, practice grammar skills, demonstrate comprehension, write across the curriculum, and publish for an authentic audience. Pixie includes tools that allow students to work together in real time on one project, developing essential collaboration skills.
