Using Wixie with Google Classroom

Posted by Danielle Abernethy on Aug 18, 2020 8:19:00 AM

Managing assignments in a digital, now virtual, classroom is essential for success. Use these steps to assign and manage Wixie projects through Google Classroom.

Start by finding the file you wish to assign to your students. You can choose from one of over 1500 templates from the Wixie curriculum library by using the Templates folder. If you created your own Wixie file, find it inside your My Projects folder.

Select the three dots next to the template and select Assign.

A New Assignment window will open in Wixie. Instead of assigning in this dialog, select the Classroom button in the lower left.

You will see the Google Classroom prompts. Select your Google Class and select Create assignment.

This will create a link to the template in Wixie.

Click the Assign button and students will see this assignment in their Google Classroom on the chosen date.

Students will see the lesson in their Google Classroom. If they are not logged in to Wixie when they start the assignment, Wixie will simply prompt them to log in and then continue taking them to the file.

When they are finished with the assignment in Wixie and are ready to turn in their work, students go to Wixie's File menu and choose Share.

Google Classroom will prompt them through the process. They start by selecting the class and the assignment and selecting the Go button.

The next dialog will show the student work that has been selected. Once students have verified this is the correct file, they select Attach.
