Wixie is more accessible than ever before. Not only does it work on more devices, like phones, it includes powerful new features like text-to-speech. Text-to-speech makes written information accessible to a wider range of learners.
Text-to-speech is a program that converts text into a spoken voice. In the new Wixie, coming this summer, the Wixie editor will show a text-to-speech icon on the left side of all text boxes. Users can click this icon to have the computer read the text to them.
Students can use text-to-speech to hear the words they have written. Listening to their writing helps them more easily identify unclear phrases, misspelled words, and confusing sentence formation.
Auditory learners, and learners with visual and reading limitations, can use text-to-speech to listen to information over and over to aid in comprehension.
Using text-to-speech benefits comprehension, fluency, and pronunciation for second-language learners.
Using the text-to-speech tools in Wixie empowers a wide range of students to edit their writing and work independently.
