Best practices for designing templates in Wixie

Over the past 15 years of Pixie and Wixie, we have built a lot of templates and activities for students. Here are some things that we have learned over the years that you will hopefully find helpful in your own templates and activities. 

Landscape vs. portrait orientation

It is almost always better to create templates and activities using the default landscape orientation. This layout works best on a variety of devices. Portrait layouts become hard to work with in the work-space of a tablet, so try to use this orientation only when designing templates that will need to be portrait when they are printed.

New Sharing Options for Teachers

We updated Wixie this weekend and gave lots of new sharing options to teachers. All teachers can now share projects with other teachers in their school by adding activities to their school activity folder. Teachers can also easily share their projects by email, Facebook, and Twitter.

Wixie's first update for 2015

Today we released an update to the Wixie Teacher Tools and Administration tools. This update adds a new privacy setting for schools and districts as well as reorganizes some functions to hopefully make them easier to find.

Here is what is new:

New privacy setting. Organizations now have the option to only require a Public Key when viewing student work. This makes it much easier for teachers to share what they are creating in Wixie while still restricting access to student work.
